About Us

We constantly listen, evaluate, and upgrade our caregivers as we review the service improvement sessions with staff and clients. Raising standards will improve in-home care for all vulnerable persons in our communities.

Our Mission

"To provide customized, client-sensitive support services and education programs resulting in improved standards, attitudes and services”.

Dedicated exclusively to Compassionate Senior Care

New services are being developed as seniors and their families present complex requirements for home-based services. We encourage your comments as we develop the relationship between service and education. We provide a reliable, trained caregiver workforce. At Senior Watch, the Personal Support Worker is required to have mandatory training in Back in Form (manual handling), in-service programs yearly, and First Aid and CPR annually.

Our History

Senior Watch Inc was founded in 1987 by Jean E. Porter Mowatt, an organizational specialist and Sharon A. O’Brien, SC; RN, PG; BSW, and CG; a nursing instructor and social worker with many years of experience in the care of the elderly.

Mowatt and O’Brien strategized a gerontology-based approach to foster an independent lifestyle for seniors.  Senior Watch has steadily grown since 1987 to include a shift in emphasis toward formal caregiver training and a work term PSW apprentice program.

In 1993, Senior Watch founded an Educational Endowment Fund to ensure quality care for the elderly. The fund was established to assist students in their studies in the field of caregiving.

The Senior Watch Bursary Fund is managed by “thecommunityfoundationsj.com“.  In memory of Sharon’s 37 years of teaching we thank her for the gifts of wisdom she gave to all her students.

As a result of the efforts of Senior Watch staff several awards were bestowed upon this young company.

In 2001 with a new direction in human resources and a long desired employee retention program Senior Watch entered into a full-time Employee in Action – Learn While You Earn Program.  Using the benchmarks of aptitude, performance and attitude as its basis, Senior Watch became a leader in home care services to its clients focusing on both client and employee needs.

The Care-Ed Learning College manages the program which allows students to study to be certified Personal Support Workers while being employed throughout their apprenticeship program at Senior Watch Home Care Services.  Public students can participate in the 12 Modules gaining the required skills and knowledge to become a PSW.

Senior Watch employs full time professionals and paraprofessionals as well as highly effective support staff, all devoted to finding ways to improve the in-home care process.

We proudly welcome you to the Senior Watch team.  We are confident that through our joint efforts and dedication, Senior Watch will continue to make advances in finding new services for our senior community.

Educational
Endowment Fund

Established in 1987, the Senior Watch Education Endowment Fund has been building a capital resource which will be maintained as an endowment fund to provide bursaries and other recognitions to individuals who seek training in the gerontology field.

Senior Watch® has a strong belief that life long learning is an integral part of who we become.  In the field of caring for an aging society’ it is an investment in self for the caregiver to learn about the aging process and to continually strive to maintain skills in preparation for that task.

We are grateful to those who have given gifts in memory of loved ones to this fund. It has become part of a greater gift to all those that will seek education and commitment to elder care. Thank you.

We will continue to be committed to the communities we serve.

In 2012, the fund initiated the “Pennies for Care Training” as a means of building endowment capital.
